On 3 July 2026, the Customs and Tax Administration announced that income tax refund cheques for tax year 2025 were available at its local offices. Cheques are issued in batches as returns are processed and approved.

The announcement is therefore operational in scope. It does not mean that everyone who has filed a return already has an approved, available refund; the administration recommends calling the relevant office before travelling there.

It is useful for taxpayers to distinguish three stages: filing the return, its processing by the office and the cheque's physical availability. Progress on one file cannot necessarily be inferred from that of another taxpayer who filed at the same time. The recommended telephone check concerns whether collection is possible. It replaces neither examination of the refund calculation nor consideration of an individual decision differing from the general announcement.

Collection requires valid government-issued photo identification. For cheques not yet available, the announcement states that processing continues and no further action is required. This does not, however, establish the amount of a receivable or resolve a dispute about entitlement to a refund.
