The Inland Revenue Department's notice concerning August 2026 withholding recalled that it had to be remitted by 15 September 2026. It covers Advance Income Tax, WHT and Advance Personal Income Tax; that deadline has already passed as of this reading.
The administration distinguishes payment codes according to the type of withholding and specifies that a bank draft or pay order realised after the deadline will be treated as late. Delivering a payment instrument before the deadline is therefore insufficient if realisation occurs afterwards.
For the party responsible for remittance, reconciliation can bring together the withholding calculated, the references entered on the payment and the bank's confirmation of realisation. These documents answer different questions: a correctly calculated amount may have been allocated to the wrong period, while an instruction given on time may have been realised late. Dealing with an anomaly therefore requires identifying its origin before inferring from the issue date alone that the obligation has been performed.
In practice, the check must cover the period, allocation and actual realisation of the payment. The notice announces penalties for failure or delay without providing their calculation here. It allows neither an assumed deadline extension nor determination of the amount due by a particular taxpayer.
